Hide Tanning *UPDATED*

So after Talitha was butchered I asked if I could have her hide. They agreed!

Here are some pictures of the hide and what I did with it.

I sent it in to Sebring Custom Tanning in Florida. I should get it back in about six months. :)

Getting some boards to stretch the hide on

Her hide weighed about 45#

Being that I didn't have any other salt available, I used this canning salt until I could get some bulk salt.

I had to cut off as much of the fat and muscle that was attached to the hide as I could.

She definitely was not lacking in fat, which pleased me, because I knew she was healthy and happy. :)

I got some Fine Stock Salt and used it on the hide to dry it out.

After about a week of salting the hide...

We wrapped it up and shipped it!

So I am excitedly waiting for her hide to be finished!!! Any ideas on what I should do with it once I get it???

I got Talitha's hide! It looks quite nice! The boys plan to hang it on the wall in their hunting 'lodge' (Nate's old recording studio).
