Homestead Monument in Nebraska

Gram, Mom, and I went to the Homestead Monument to search for some ancestry stuff. It was fun! We stopped and got some drinks first.

And chocolate filled crescents :P

Arrived!

To plow one acre of land you walked 10 miles! :O

This is how much land from Iowa was given away in the homestead act.

And Nebraska

This is what a common homesteaders cabin in Nebraska would have looked like. A family of twelve lived in this cabin! Could you imagine that? Those long snowy winter or the wet rainy days. What would you do?

Poor fellow!

Searching for some ancestry stuff!

I love seeing the different building styles from state to state. :)

Dinner was yummy!

Rock Cut

It was a hot day, so some of us went to the rock cut.

It was beautiful!

We walked across the river right here. Thankfully with how dry it had been we were able to cross without getting too wet. :)

Then we walked up the river on these sand bars, which is one of my favorite things to do!

It was while we were at the rock cut that I got a call from Dad saying that Sandy was calving! So Josh, Sam, and I went back home right away while the others came a little later.

Some thorns

Sam's boots

Emmie sold this old sink for $200! :O

I love these guys!
