This and that...

The Garden...

Peppers are growing good!

Green beans

A volunteer tomato that is growing tomatoes! :) It is a very healthy plant!

The garden is growing and growing! :)

Her head looks so little in this picture! :) She is pretty fat though...

The line right along her tail head is called a "pin".  They are starting to show more, maybe... When the pins are really pronounced then it means calving is very soon. But because she is so fat it will be harder to see them. :) I am not sure how she keeps all that weight on. She doesn't get much grain. Oh well!

Ready for milking!!

Canning Green Beans!

It's July! And that means green beans! KK, Sam, and I picked them, then Mom, Emmie, KK, Sam, and I all snapped them! I was working with green beans for 13 hours. :) Not all the time though. Pressure canning them takes a long time! I started picking at nice thirty or so and kept working till bed time! I am so glad that the others helped... or I might still be working on them!

Sam wanted to use a knife. He said it saved his fingers. :P

Canning!

I did a cold pack this year because last year we did a hot pack and they fell apart when you took them out of the jar. I hope this will help with that.

They are so green!

Mommy washing the green beans. She is an amazing Mom. I think I have the best Mom ever! Hands down!

All done! I think there were 14 quarts. :)

Two down...

Mom and KK (Caleb) are out of the game... Well, KK is trying again for the 23rd. So maybe he'll come a little closer this time. :) Mom still has the rest of today!! Maybe, just maybe she'll get it...

Calf???

Nope... nothing. Even though there was a weather change she is still fat and happy. :)
The waiting game continues!
Thank you to everyone for writing your guesses! I really enjoy seeing what people think! Wonder who will be the closest??
God bless you!

Guessing Game!! =)

I was thinking it would be fun to guess when Talitha will have her calf.

I have heard that bad weather, temperature changes, stress and full moons can cause a cow to have a calf. And weekends!  He he!! :) Just kidding!

Sam thinks she will have it on the Friday, July 24th.
I think she will have it on Friday, July 31st.

Please leave a comment below saying when you think she will have her calf and we'll see who gets the closest to when she really does have it!

Have fun!!

Hooves

Poor Talitha needed her hooves trimmed badly! She was limping on her feet because they were so long. She would walk really slow... so I got online and looked up how to trim a cow's hooves by yourself. I found this https://spiritedrose.wordpress.com/jersey-cattle/before-buying/trimming-hooves/. So Caleb and I trimmed her hooves as best we could. I was praying that she would let us do it. She really did not like it but she never kicked us. Just did little dances. :) Praise the Lord! Just did little dances. :) I stood so that she could see me, but not Caleb. That helped a lot!
By the way, she is walking so much better now!

Her hooves would squeak when she walked because they were so over grown.
They still do some, but not as much.

Over lapped toe nails! Ouch!

All done! I just snapped these pictures quick while she was standing there so they are not very good.

We did not trim off a whole lot... but I think they look way better now!

Hello????

Sorry everyone! Our computer died on us very suddenly, with no warning, so all blogging stopped. :) So I'll be putting on a whole bunch of pictures. :) Enjoy!!

June 6th
The garden is growing nicely! :)

Talitha... still fat!

When will the calf be here???

June 10th
This is my little niece, Katelyn. She and Sam were having a blast together!

Smiles all around!

She would scream every time he dumped water on her, but she didn't seem to mind much. :)

Cream cheese frosting and fingers...

Tabitha has been having what I would call Braxton-hicks. Hoping for a baby calf soon!!!

June 17th
Watson with rose pedals all over him. :)

 June 20th
Caleb trying to get a chair off the deck...
We are redoing our deck on the front of our house. It was in pretty bad shape.

Josh working hard! Sweat was just dripping off of him! I can't remember the temperature for that day but I know it was pretty muggy out.

Hummm... how do I get this chair through without setting the table down...

Like that!

Now we have a nice big hole for a deck. But one of theses Saturdays Dad and the boys will have time to get the new deck on. I'll try and get pictures when they do!

June 24th
More hay! See Watson on top of the left hand bale?

Ug! I wish I could get the water/potty to evaporate in Talitha's pen, but it just pools up. Yucky!!

Her poor feet need trimmed badly, but I don't want to have her flipped on her side this close to calving!

Isn't she pretty? I brush her tail out and it makes it so fluffy!

More milk!

June 26th
Looking fat!
I try to keep a bed on clean hay for her to lay on. I have to 'remake' her bed every morning and evening. Messy girl!

Look at how much the garden has grown! I am so happy with it! God has been very good to us! Nothing but a few cut worms in our pepper plants. Which Caleb cut out with his knife. Those ones are just a little shorter... :P He is a great surgeon!

Green beens!
These things will be coming out of our ears in a little bit! The plants are loaded!

Peppers!

The potatoes are blooming! Emmie and I spent several hours putting hay around them so that we don't have to find dirt to hill them with. We would need a lot of dirt! So hay works pretty good!

Apples!

I was outside taking pictures of Mom and Emmie's flowers because I found a new setting on our camera that changes color and stuff.
